The Challenge
Replacement of two nitrogen turboexpanders that had reached the end of their operational life, while ensuring the integration of the new equipment into an operating air separation plant without affecting process continuity or plant safety.
The main challenge was to adapt the technical requirements of the new equipment to the existing infrastructure, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and operational reliability.
The Solution
EIA21 carried out a technical review of the manufacturer’s documentation for the new turboexpanders and defined the design parameters required for their successful integration into the plant.
Based on this analysis, detailed engineering for the interconnecting piping systems was developed, including sizing, routing, and adaptation to the operating conditions required by the equipment, ensuring proper installation and reliable performance.
Results
The new process interconnections were successfully designed and implemented, ensuring optimal integration of the turboexpanders within the existing plant.
