Development of Detailed Engineering for a new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification plant in Brazil, designed to convert stored LNG into natural gas for industrial and energy applications, strengthening regional energy infrastructure and improving supply reliability.

LNG Regasification Plant Project

The Challenge

EIA21 participated in the development of the detailed engineering for a new LNG regasification facility in Brazil, providing specialized expertise in process engineering, piping design, piping stress analysis, and structural engineering.

The project is part of a broader investment strategy aimed at enhancing Brazil’s energy infrastructure and ensuring a reliable natural gas supply while improving the flexibility and efficiency of the distribution network.

LNG regasification plants require a high level of technical integration between cryogenic equipment, process systems, and piping networks operating under significant thermal and operational variations.

Key project challenges included:

  • Developing detailed engineering for a technically demanding LNG regasification facility.
  • Integrating process systems, piping networks, and steel structures within a complex industrial environment.
  • Designing systems operating under cryogenic conditions and severe temperature gradients.
  • Performing piping flexibility and stress analyses to ensure long-term mechanical integrity.
  • Coordinating multiple engineering disciplines to optimize constructability, operability, and maintenance requirements.

The Solution

EIA21 delivered a multidisciplinary engineering solution focused on ensuring the plant’s safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

The scope of work included:

  • Detailed engineering of process systems.
  • Design and 3D modeling of piping networks.
  • Flexibility and stress analysis of critical piping systems.
  • Structural steel and pipe support engineering.
  • Multidisciplinary coordination to optimize equipment layout and installation.
  • Preparation of technical documentation for construction and commissioning.

Through this integrated approach, EIA21 developed an engineering solution fully aligned with the client’s technical requirements and the plant’s operational objectives.

Results

  • Successful completion of the detailed engineering package for the LNG regasification plant.
  • Effective integration of process, piping, stress analysis, and structural engineering disciplines.
  • Optimized design focused on safety, operability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Full compliance with the client’s technical and construction requirements.
  • Strengthened EIA21’s international experience in LNG infrastructure and cryogenic technologies.
